Disclaimer:

I wish to voluntarily participate in the Live 100 Challenge. While it is generally not necessary to see a health care provider before beginning every-day physical activities, such as walking, we encourage you to talk to your health provider about your health and physical activity as part of your regular visits.

Your readiness for physical activity can also be assessed through the following questions. If you answer ‘yes’ to one or more, please consult your physician before engaging in physical activity, who can provide further advice on what activities are most suitable for your current condition.

  1. Do any of the following apply?
    • You have high blood pressure
    • You have heart disease
    • You have type 1 or type 2 diabetes
    • You have kidney disease
    • You have arthritis
    • You’re being treated for cancer, or you’ve recently completed cancer treatment
  2. Has your doctor ever said that you have a heart condition and that you should only perform physical activity recommended by a doctor?
  3. Do you feel pain in your chest when you perform physical activity?
  4. In the past month, have you had chest pain when you were not performing any physical activity?
  5. Do you lose your balance because of dizziness or do you ever lose consciousness?
  6. Do you have a bone or joint problem that could be made worse by a change in your physical activity?
  7. Is your doctor currently prescribing any medication for your blood pressure, for a heart condition, or other condition (e.g., diabetes)?
  8. Do you know of any other reason why you should not engage in physical activity?
